SUGGESTED ITINERARIES
Day Charters: - Outer Great Barrier Reef
Flexible departure and return times makes Phantom the perfect choice for
your day at the reef. In general we provide complimentary luxury car transfers
from your Port Douglas accommodation to the Marina Mirage at 8 am. This
enables the vessel to depart at 8.30 am. Guests have at least 5 hrs at
the outer reef to snorkel, scuba dive, fish and relax whilst enjoying
a gourmet seafood lunch. Returning to the Marina by 4.30 pm for car transfers
back to their accommodation.
Areas we visit on a day charter are pristine coral gardens and coral bommies
on the Outer Great Barrier Reef. The outer reef has both soft and hard
corals in a diverse range of shapes and colours. Water visibility can
vary from 20m to over 100m. Informative reef books on the vessel enable
guests to learn further about the reef, coral, formation and marine life.
Phantom has several moorings that are exclusive to Phantom guests only.
Depending on the guests and the activities will determine which sites
we go to. Having operated in the area for the past 10 yrs, Phantom crew
have an extensive knowledge of the Great Barrier Reef. This enables us
to visit a diverse array of reef areas.
For those wishing to visit an island for more of a beach day with less
travel time, there is Low Isles
Low Isles: - Inner Reef
Low Isles is only 8nm from the leads of Port Douglas and provides a picture
perfect location. Low Isles provides a sheltered lagoon area where the
coral gardens extend out from the small vegetated coral cay. Guests can
either be shuttled to the island via Phantoms tender or snorkel and swim
over the coral gardens to the island. Be sure to keep an eye out for the
many turtles that reside in the lagoon. Swaying palm trees surround the
island which only takes about 20 minutes to leisurely stroll around. Informative
walks lead to the automated lighthouse in the centre of the island.
ACTIVITIES
Light tackle fishing is included for both
day and extended charters. Guests can choose if they would like to fish
or not. For reef fishing all the equipment is included and crew are
there to assist guests as needed. this is a great chance for children
to be shown how to fish and everyone can have a go.
Light tackle fishing on Phantom is trolling and bottom fishing in designated
fishing zones. These areas are not suitable for other guests to swim
in. Fish sizes, sex, species and bag limits are monitored by the crew,
fish are released if they are not in the required limits. Guests then
have the opportunity of keeping fish if they choose - these can be bagged
and labelled for guests to take home.
Trolling: up to 3 - 4 rods are in place using lures or live or
dead bait.
Suitable to catch: mackeral, tuna, trevally, barracudda

reef experience, in the water and having fun - not doing quizzes.

has never dived before or who hasn't completed a certification course.

apply. A medical questionaire is to be completed on the vessel prior
to the dive. Guests who have concerns about resperatory/circulation,
asthma, diabetes, pregnancy or medication use should consult a medical
practitioner first. After trying a dive you will be hooked on a love
of the ocean. Our professional, fun Instructors will brief you on the
dive and then take you in small individual groups on a reef dive tour.
