The Tallarook was built in 1946 by the Australian Navy as a general purpose vessel but was later decommissioned. After a six year, multi-million dollar restoration, she was transformed into a 90 foot luxury motor yacht. Her sheer size and strength provides a smooth and stable ride out to the reef in even the roughest of seas. With plenty of deck space you can stretch out and not have to worry about being part of the crowd.

The journey to Tongue Reef is half the fun. A leisurely 2 hour cruise gives you the chance to partake in hands-on sailing after some instruction from our crew; and if you're lucky, you may even catch a fish, whilst trolling. Failing that, you can sit back and relax, and enjoy the comfortable ride.

Our trained crew will also take some time to go over a comprehensive snorkel briefing as well as information on the reef and surrounds. This is then followed by an introduction to scuba diving, which you're more than welcome to listen to, even if you've never been interested in diving before!

When we get to the reef, you can snorkel or scuba dive to your heart's content. Once our time on the reef has come to an end, we leave our mooring and head home. If the wind's blowing nicely, we'll turn the motor off and sail for as long as we can. This gives you a chance to lay back and reminisce about your fabulous day.

As you're coming to see the Great Barrier Reef, why not let our professional divemasters and instructors take you on a guided underwater tour?

If you've never experienced scuba and would love to try it, an introductory course will be perfect. After some paperwork and a 30 minute briefing, you'll kit up and get in the water for one of the best thrills of your life.

If you're a certified diver, our divemaster will brief you on the site and will take you on a guided tour. He'll point out all the fascinating creatures that the reef has to offer, giving you the perfect opportunity to take photos or simply relax and enjoy the dive.

Suggested Itinerary Sunset Sail - Depart Port Douglas 5.30pm - cruise/sail in Dixon Inlet and around the Port Douglas coastal area, depending on weather conditions, complementary champagne on arrival, a selection of hot and cold finger foods will be served whilst cruising, 10 people minimum, maximum number of 46 persons. Return approx 7.30pm.

Suggested Itinerary Full Day Charter to Low Isles - Depart Port Douglas from 9am - cruise/sail to Low Isles (return trip two hours duration) - Maximum of 15 persons permitted on Island & adjoining Reef at one time - swim, snorkel, sunbake, scuba extra - buffet lunch and snacks provided.

Suggested Itinerary Full Day Charter to Inner Reef - Depart Port Douglas 9am - cruise/sail to Tongue Reef (return trip four hours duration) - Maximum of 25 persons permitted on Reef - snorkel tour, scuba extra - buffet lunch and snacks provided.

Suggested Itinerary Full Day Charter to Outer Reef - Depart Port Douglas 8am - cruise/sail to Chinaman Reef (return trip six hours duration) - Maximum of 45 persons permitted on Reef - snorkel tour, scuba extra - buffet lunch and snacks provided.

Low Season - 2nd November to 20th December 2007 and 13th January to 31st May 2008 - $2500 for 20 persons plus $50 per extra person.

High Season - 1st June to 1st November 2007 and 21st December 2007 to 12th January 2008 - $3500 for 20 persons plus $50 per extra person.
