In keeping with our philosophy of low impact tourism, WAVELENGTH takes only a maximum of 30 people on each tour. Our commitment to sharing the unique Great Barrier Reef environment with small groups, allows you to explore this place of incredible beauty and awesome diversity, in a very unique and personalized way.

WAVELENGTH has been operating in Port Douglas for 23 years and dedicates every facet of the day to snorkellers and their unique requirements. WAVELENGTH will take you to outer reef sites selected specifically for the needs of snorkellers NOT scuba divers.

WAVELENGTH has access to 20 mooring sites over three reef systems situated on the very edge of the Outer Reef. These include Opal Reef, Tongue Reef and St Crispin.

First Site
On arrival at our first site we make it our priority to teach everyone how to snorkel safely. The crew take time to fit everyone out with high quality snorkel equipment and share some tips on snorkelling and give special attention to first timers.

Second Site
After morning tea, we move along to another one of our many sites, chosen to suit the conditions of the day. Here, with all passengers having mastered their new snorkelling skills, we conduct a guided snorkel tour. This allows our marine biologists to help snorkellers discover aspects of the new site that might otherwise be missed and to point out the multitude of life forms found underwater.

A Gourmet Lunch
Lunch aboard can be both a relaxed or an interactive affair with an informative interpretive talk. The delicious deli-style lunch includes a range of salads, chicken, roast beef, ham, prawns, fruit and bread rolls. Special diets can be catered for.

Third Site
With appetites having been satisfied and all questions answered we head to our final site of the day where you'll be free to explore and enjoy more wonders, with your new found knowledge.

Cruising
Following afternoon tea we head back with the wonderful view of the sun dropping towards the rainforest clad mountains. WAVELENGTH arrives back in Port Douglas at approximately 4.30pm.

The large carpeted aft deck area allows for ease of movement around the boat and when gearing up for snorkelling. The aft deck area has full overhead sun protection, with plastic side curtains for wind and spray protection when needed. A huge rear-duckboard is perfect for ease of access to the water particularly for beginners and children who are testing their new discovered snorkelling abilities.

With a survey to carry 30 passengers and 3 crew there is always plenty of space on-board. The forward cabin has navigation equipment, galley, library, toilet, shower facilities and dry storage. The top fly-bridge deck, where the skipper pilots the vessel, also has passenger seating with some open areas for sun worshippers. On calm days the foredeck is a fantastic spot to soak up the sun.

WAVELENGTH is powered by a reliable, 1000 horsepower V12 MAN diesel engine giving a fast cruising speed thereby aiding a shorter travel time. The hull was originally designed to work in 5 metre seas in the Indian Ocean, so is proven as seaworthy and sea kindly even on those rough weather days.
